Baked Potatoes with Herring - Odd, but Good

Herring is generally well-regarded. It even pairs well with potatoes, but in a casserole, it's a bit less common. As it turns out, unjustifiably so.
The herring was cut into small pieces, and the potatoes into ultra-thin strips, because it was meant to be a gratin 🙂 An egg was also added to the mix, whether it was necessary, I don't know, but I wanted everything to bake together. The dish turned out quite nice, but it's one of those that are best fresh, and somehow no one really reheats them. I made quite a lot of it, handed it out, and it received surprisingly good reviews.
