Goulash in a Cauldron

For some time now, we have had an allotment garden. Traditionally, as it happens in the garden, everyone grills - there's always a barbecue and it's somehow accepted that there must be a grill.
And usually, there is 馃檪 but sometimes we fire up the field kitchen, perfect for one-pot dishes. Here, a goulash for a larger number of people, after all, we are rarely alone in the garden (and then there's usually a grill 馃崠).
The cauldron is heated with wood. There is a normal fireplace underneath it and kindling is thrown in.
Initially, I had some problems with this - because the temperature of the oil / butter rises very quickly and it's easy to burn. The onion painfully found out about this twice. After pouring the sauce, everything returns to normal - you can safely leave it for a longer moment.
