Homemade Churros, Turns Out, The Best Ones

Homemade Churros, Turns Out, The Best Ones

This is one of those (actually, many dishes) where you think: 'nobody makes this at home, it must be difficult'. Well, because churros, as we are talking about them, are mainly eaten from food trucks, or possibly from convenience stores.

It turns out that, as in most cases, this thinking is pointless, and my churros turned out better than the ones I usually ate, right from the first try. I suspect it's mainly because they are fresh, but that counts too 馃檪

The dough for churros should be quite thick, I used a recipe with one egg (probably from Ania Cooks). Squeezing them through a piping bag requires some strength, so it's worth using both hands, and for cutting the emerging churros (with scissors) it's worth employing a helper (the youngest ones can cut for hours for a certain commission).
